Description
Svenska Kraftnät is a state utility which administers and operates the national electricity grid. This consists of some 15,000 kilometres of 220 kV and 400 kV lines, plus stations and interconnectors to neighbouring countries.
We also have system responsibility for electricity and natural gas in Sweden. This involves ensuring reliable operations and guaranteeing the short-term balance of supply and demand on the systems. We work constantly to adapt the network to society's demands for a secure, economic and environmentally-friendly electricity supply.
Svenska Kraftnät works constantly to promote an efficient liberalized energy market with competition in supply and demand.
The company has about 300 employees, most of whom work at our head office in Stockholm. We also have offices in Halmstad, Sundsvall and Sollefteå and a training center near Örebro. We have a turnover of about SEK 7000 million.
Svenska Kraftnät has three subsidiaries and six associated companies, the biggest of which is the Nordic power exchange Nord Pool.
