Description
The National Board of Institutional Care, SIS, exists for those who are most disadvantaged. In 50 LVM homes and special approved homes in various parts of Sweden, we look after young people and adults who, in various ways, have "gone off the rails". Most young persons and substance abusers in SiS institutions have been placed there without their consent because they are in danger of injuring themselves or of ruining their lives, but there are also cases of voluntary admission under the Social Services Act. SiS commits heavy resources to developing the competence of residential treatment centre staff and to research and evaluation of various treatment methods.
