Tulikivi Introduces Whirlbox Combustion Technology in all Fireplace Designs

Customers choose Tulikivi for a variety of reasons in the United States.
Decisions range from the design décor to an alternative to escalating
energy costs and tax credits. The commonality from coast to coast is
that customers want a heat source that is proficient, ecologically aware
and durable. Tulikivi’s Whirlbox technology meets those needs and more.

Tulikivi Corporation invented the latest combustion technology called
the Whirlbox, a solution that burns wood very efficiently, cleanly and
economically. This upgrade is now featured in its entire range of
heat-retaining soapstone fireplaces, including fireplaces with baking
ovens. As a result, all heat-retaining Tulikivi fireplaces now carry the
CE marking. To assure quality, Tulikivi has obtained both an ISO 9001
and UL listing. Not only do Tulikivi’s fireplaces meet the strictest
emissions and safety tests in North America, they have also surpassed
these tests worldwide.

“In the Whirlbox, combustion gases and air are mixed very effectively in
the chamber which improves efficiency and provides a non-wasteful and
exceptionally clean burn,” said Juha Sivonen, director of sales,
Tulikivi. “The emissions from a Whirlbox fireplace are reduced to only a
fraction of even the world’s strictest emission standards, and thanks to
its simple structure, the Whirlbox is also a very reliable and easy to
use firebox,” he added.

The CE marking, now fitted to the entire Tulikivi range of fireplaces,
provides peace of mind to customers that Tulikivi products meet the
essential safety requirements of the relevant EU directives. The
Tulikivi product range has been tested in accordance with the new EN
15250 test standard for slow heat release appliances.

The incorporation of this new technology has no significant impact on
the appearance of the fireplaces, the only obvious change being that the
doors on the new models are light grey instead of dark grey.

"Within the industry, Tulikivi is a leader in utilizing green
technology. The introduction of the Whirlbox and the CE marking
certification of the entire Tulikivi range of soapstone fireplaces are
clear examples of this commitment. We are already designing for tomorrow
– at full speed," concludes Sivonen.
